At the end of this week we will be traveling to Hamburg in order to attend the "Exceptional Hardware & Software Meeting" (EHSM). It would appear that makers and hackers tend to be physically attracted to large particle collider installations, given that we had our first apertus° first apertus° community meeting in Geneva near the CERN Large Hadron Collider, and now EHSM is held at the DESY (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron - German Electron Synchrotron) operating a particle accelerator. This will be the second EHSM event since its initial debut in Berlin in 2012. Not only will we give a talk on Sunday, presenting the apertus° project, the AXIOM Alpha prototype and a preview of the AXIOM Beta incarnation, there will also be a wide range of other speakers covering interesting topics such as privacy, encryption, quantum computing, electronics, smelting & welding, bending & soldering, patent law, optics & photonics, art, radio astronomy and much more during the meeting from Friday to Sunday.
After the LHC this is the second largest particle collider in Europe.
